New Chapter: Explore the World

Copper Harbor, MI

Copper Harbor, MI has been our home for the last 10 days of the Big Adventure. Friends built a “cabin” on Lake Medora and have generously allowed us to stay. It is a perfectly magical place. It rained the first few days which was a blessing as I needed some down time. I pretty much read, practiced yoga, and ate healthy food. We did a little hiking too, some right on the property. David and Colleen carved out a serpentine peaceful trail. Lots of wild flowers, trees and amazing views of the lake. We ventured out to see a Civil War reenactment at Fort Wilkins State Park. There’s a picture of Bob with one of the characters. Kip, my brother, says it looks like Bob was transported into another time. My favorite spot so far is a rocky point in front of the cabin. I’m writing there, watching sunrises, and just being. We are also excited about our canoeing trips around the lake – so peaceful and quiet. Enjoy a few pictures from Copper Harbor. Next we travel south to Atlanta, GA, with a quick stop in Milwaukee for the Moss wedding. A few more days in MI paradise.

  1. Good to hear from you and see you both! Your environment looks to be a perfect resting spot for this time in your Journey.

    • It really is. So peaceful and lots of time to not worry about time. We are just letting each day unfold. Yoga every morning and a nice hike almost every day. I’m regrouping for the next month of zigzagging the country.

    • Yep, it’s perfect. We are getting ready to leave here. Cleaned the whole house yesterday so we only have to touch up on Thursday. I was thinking about us cleaning the kitchen as I was dusting shelves.

Today we hike, visit a few shops and have a cocktail at The Mountain Lounge. Great last full day.

  2. Pretty cool adventure! You will become very adept with living out of one suitecase. On our motorcycle trips we each had one backpack and one small bag. You may find at how much you don’t miss.

  3. I am liking the small amount of “stuff” that I have. I’ll let you know how I feel in 3 months. šŸ™‚

  4. This looks glorious! Enjoy this special quiet and peaceful time!

  5. That’s a picture of the shoreline of the property that we are staying on. It’s magic here. Kind of like Door County with very few cabins, four shops and very few people. Well at least they are both Great Lakes.
